K, played by John Abraham, is a habitual chain smoker. He smokes almost every minute, while bathing, having sex, at work and home. His friends and family worry about him and beg him to quit but he refuses. It’s only when his wife Anjali, played by Ayesha Takia leaves him does he realizes the consequences of his actions. He is then given an appointment at a rehab center called Prayogshala by his friends Abbas and his doctor. He decides to check out the place and there he meets Guru Ghantal Baba, played by Paresh Rawal.
Prayogshala uses the technique of fear psychosis to treat its patients of their addiction. If the patient is caught giving into their vice, something shocking happens to them. With the first offence the person’s loved one of kept in a room full of smoke for 5 mins, in the next one, the person loses his/her finger, the next the person’s loved one is killed and the last one the person’s soul is taken from his body. Initially refusing to pay over Rs 21 lakhs for his treatment, K then gives in but is punished for faltering several times. He meets a friend who asks him to simply place a cigar in his mouth and then he gets a call saying his wife is killed. He is shocked and later is it revealed that his wife is still alive but he has lost two fingers.
The movie is directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Vishal Bhardwaj. The music is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
