October is a romantic drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar for their banner, Rising Sun Films. The film starring Varun Dhawan, Banita Sandhu and Gitanjali Rao in the lead roles of which both Sandhu and Rao make their debutant entry with the film. Script written by Juhi Chaturvedi and the film is based on the life of hotel management and their interns in an unconventional manner.
The film scheduled for release on 1st June 2018 was rescheduled for 13th April 2018 and the film makers were acused of stealing the story of a Marathi film , ‘The Unknown Love Story’ . However the film October , were cleared of the charges and went on to gross as 54.74 crores worldwide.
Danish, or Dan Walia ( Varun Dhawan) is a hotel management trainee who works as an intern is shown as the man of careless attitude who has strained relationship with his colleagues. A twist in the love story in the film is when Dan realizes he is in love with his co-worker Shiuli who has had an accident and falls from the terrace on the New Year’s party. Her last question before she goes into a coma is’ Where Is Dan ? Dan starts visiting her hospital every day and falls in love with her. He continues to take care of her but one night Shiuli (Banita Sandhu) has a seizure in her lungs and she dies. The Grief stricken Dan completes his Hotel managerment and is a chef at the same hotel he was earliler fired from .
Several years later he meets her mother who is moving to Trichy and comes to know that Shiuli was eagerly waiting for October to see the white blooms of Shiuli flowers . Dan decides to fulfil her wish of seeing the white Shiuli flowers in the month of October. Dan carries the small flower tree from her home to her mother. The small tree which blooms with the white flowers is the last scene of the film is a sigh of the unconditional and unsaid love between Shiuli and Dan.
