Thakur Vikram Singh is a wealthy man but kind hearted. One day however, while driving his car, he rams into an innocent woman and she dies instantly. He comes to know that the woman has a son named Raju and adopts him. He brings him home hoping he will be welcomed but his own son Maan revolts and is furious. Vikram sends Mann to a hostel to study so he can become responsible and change his attitude. Meanwhile a few years later Vikram passes away and his brother Pratap takes over his business. Mann returns and throws Raju into the stables to work there. He also puts the letter M on his back.
Many years later Raju falls in love with Maan’s sister Poonam. When Maan comes to know this he gets Raju beaten severely and arranges her marriage to Yuvraj Singh. Later Maan comes to know the shocking truth that his father Vikram had been murdered and is desperate to find the killer. The film is directed by Brij and produced by Sayeeda Sadanah and R K Kapoor. The music is composed by R D Burman and the story is written by Suhrid Kar. The star cast includes Rajesh Khanna, Prem Chopra, Danny Denzongpa, Feroz Khan and Salma Agha.
