Set in the 18th century, the Maratha’s are declared one of the most valiant and powerful empires of the time. They rejoice in celebration and live life in harmony, when trouble strikes. The king of Afghanistan, King Ahmad Shah Abdali, plans to attack India and get power over the Marathas and the entire country. The Maratha Peshwas then choose Sadashiv Rao Bhau to take control of the situation and stop the attacks of Ahmad at any cost. This attempt at saving the country from destruction, leads to the third battle of Panipat between the Marathas and the Afgans. The movie is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar. The screenplay is written by Chandrashekhar Dhavalikar, Ranjeet Bahadur, Aditya Rawal and Ashutosh Gowariker.
The star cast includes Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon, Zeenat Aman, Sahil Salathia, KUnal Kapoor, Nawab Shah, Mantra, Suhasini Mulay, Vinita Mahesh, Krutika Deo and Padmini Kolhapure. The music is composed by Ajay-Atul. The cinematography is by C. K. Muraleedharan.
