Karan and Kishen are brothers who were orphaned as children. Kishen joins the gangster Anna to make quick money to sponsor Karan education abroad and also keep him away from the life of crime. When Karan returns after completing his studies after a few years his friend Prakash, who is a police officer, tells him about Anna’s illegal activities. Before he could say anything else, Anna’s men shoot Prakash to death and he dies in Karan’s arms. Prakash’s sister Paro thinks Karan is responsible for her brother’s death but he tells her that Anna and Kishen are the ones to be blamed. They both fall in love. Kishen then tells Karan not to testify against one of Anna’s men. Karan agrees and joins his gang to get a better understanding of the gangs operations. However things don’t go as planned and Karan and Paro are brutally murdered on their wedding night. Kishen then swears to avenge his brother’s death by burning Anna alive.
The film is directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The music is composed by R D Burman and the cinematography is by Binod Pradhan. The star cast includes Jackie Shroff,Anil Kapoor,Nana Patekar, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher,Suresh Oberoi,Tom Alter,Sameer Kakkad,Anang Desai,Dilip Kulkarni,Shivkumar Subrahmanyam,Uday Chandra and Kamla Chopra.
