In the kingdom of Ujjain, king Vijay Singh rules the people and is known to be a just king. However, when his only daughter, princess Indumati falls in love with the palace gardener named Ramu, he is furious. He challenges Ramu to earn as much wealth as him and only then can he marry his daughter. Meanwhile a wizard named Husair has been seeking to gain the power of Pataal Bhairavi. Obtaining this statue makes a person powerful and any of their wish will be granted. He chooses Ramu to be his assistant in acquiring it. He tricks him by promising to help him marry Indumati. In reality he wants to offer his sacrifice to the goddess. When Ramu finds out his evil plan he sacrifices Husair instead and get the wealth and statue. The king then is forced to get Indumati and Ramu marry.
Meanwhile Husair’s apprentice brings his master back to life and together they kidnap Indumati and steal the statue. Ramu then kills Husair once and for all and gives the statue back to the goddess, where it rightly belongs. The film is directed by K Papailah and produced by G Hanumantha Rao. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri and the story is written by P Nagendra Rao. The cinematography is by V S R Swamy. The star cast includes Jeetendra, Jayaprada, Dimple Kapadia, Pran, Amjad Khan, Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Asrani, Nirupa Roy, Bindu, Prema Narayan and Shoma Anand.
