Gattu, played by Akshay Kumar has always been obedient to what ever his father, Gurtej, played by Rishi Kapoor, has told him to do. Gattu has always enjoyed playing cricket and is exceptionally good at the game. He wishes to play for England but his father has opposed it saying that he will commit suicide if he did so. His friends Simran, played by Anushka Sharma and Zeeshan encourage him after a few years to continue playing.
Gattu enters the England team without the knowledge of his father but eventually his father comes to know. HE has a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. His neighbors and friends come to convince Gurtej to allow Gattu to play cricket in the England team. His mother, played by Dimple Kapadia, says that she has always been his wife and less of a mother but now she will be try and be both. She switches on the TV to see Gattu playing and Gurtej realizes how cruel he has been to his son.
He goes to the stadium where Gattu is playing to watch him win the championship for Engkand. He embarces him and compares him to cricketer Lala Amarnath. The movie is directed by Nikkhil Advani and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mukesh Talreja, Krishan Kumar, Twinkle Khanna and Zoeb Springwala.
