Pehchan is a 1970 Filmfare award winning romantic film, directed by Sohanlal Kanwar, starring Manoj Kumar, Babita and Balraj Sahni.
Barkha(Babita) lives with her widowed mother and her brother Rakesh who marries a rich girl Maya . Barkha meets a naïve man Gangaram(Manoj Kumar) who is illiterate and has no job but they love each other, but her family does not approve of it. Rakesh goes to Gangaram’s house to discuss marriage but comes home angrily and lies to Barkha that he is living with a prostitute Champa. She goes to his house and asks him to disown Champa and choose between the both of them. The question is who will he choose?
