Piku, played by Deepika Padukone is an independent and self-sufficient Bengali girl who works as an architech and lives in Delhi. She lives with her 70 year old father Bhashkor who has severe constipation problems and is highly obsessed with his bowel movements. Her father’s health obsession has taken a toll on Piku’s social and love life. Her father’s constant calls at work and on dates to her are turning out disastrous for her.
They decide to travel to Kolkata to sell their ancestral home. They ask Rana, played by Irrfan Khan who owns a taxi business to drive them down. Once there they invite Rana to stay with them. Rana and Piku bond and fall in love but her father doesn’t trust him. On Rana’s insistence, Piku doesn’t sell the house and later they discover that Bhaskor has died peacefully in his sleep.
Piku is directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by N.P Singh, Ronnie Lahiri and Sneha Rajini. The music is composed by Anupam Roy.
