Pranali is the story of a girl who is oppressed, forced into prostitution and lives in a society that views women as a mere source of recreation and pleasure. Pranali narrates her ordeal to a US based woman named Judy. She tells her about being born in poverty in a village between Karnataka and Maharashtra. She was forced to marry a much older Dev and become a devdasi. Ignoring the protests of her mother the father arranges for her wedding. She is then sold to a politician for a mere 20 acres of land. She somehow escapes the torture and files a police complaint.
Pranali is then taken to a Nari Ashram where there is another hell waiting. Wealthy men and politicians seek sexual favors there. Later in 2003, she is forcibly sold to a brothel owner in Mumbai and meets other prostitutes Shakila, Chanda and Kanchi who become her lifelines. During one of the client visits, Pranali gets pregnant. The owner advices her to abort the child but she decides to keep it and moves on. She gives birth to a baby girl who she names Roshni. It is when she seeks admission for her daughter in school, all her past demons come back to haunt her.
The movie is directed by Hirdesh Kamble and produced by Nikhil Mathur. The music is composed by Kailash-Paresh-Naresh.
