Yuvraj Vijay Singh, played by Salman Khan is a wealthy and arrogant prince who is soon to be crowned the king. He is engaged to Maithili, played by Sonam Kapoor, who is the princess of a neighboring kingdom. Vijay’s half sisters Chandrika, played by Swara Bhaskar and Radhika, played by Aashika Bhatia live in a separate house outside the royal palace where Chandrika works as an accountant at a local school. She has filed a case against Vijay for her share in the royal property. Thus they are not on talking terms with him.
Vijay’s half brother, Ajay, played by Neil Nitin Mukesh wants to kill him for the crown. He nearly kills him in once incident but Vijay survives and is badly hurt; they hide him in the secret chambers. Meanwhile Vijay lookalike Prem, who is a big fan of Maithili, comes to meet her. The guards take him to Diwan Sahib, played by Anupam Kher and he sees the striking resemblance. He requests Prem to go in place of Vijay till he is out of his coma and he agrees. He treats Maithili and his sisters better than Vijay and they all have a change of heart by his attitude. Maithili falls in love with Prem.
When Ajay hears of this, he kidnaps the real Vijay but his manager helps him escape and a fight breaks between Vijay and Ajay. Maithili learns of the truth and is heartbroken that Prem has left but later on they unite. The movie is directed by Sooraj Barjatya and produced by Ajit Kumar Barjatya, Kamal Kumar and Rajkumar Barjatya. The music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
