Devdhar and Manorama have been childhood friends. She is however the daughter of a wealthy Thakur and he a poor orphan. Her father sends him to the city to complete his studies. After 8 years when Devdhar returns home he meets Manorama and falls in love with her. He is however unable to confess his love due to his poor social standing. She is eventually married off to a rich Thakur of her status. However
things turn ugly when her husband dies the next day of her marriage. Her evil brother-in-law molests her and a devastated Manorama returns to her home. Devdhar is horrified to learn what has conspired in Manorama’s life and works to make her happy and cheerful again. He confesses his love to her but the circumstances are such that she cant even accept. Her father is now furious at Devdhar’s behavior and wants him to stay away from his daughter. The film is directed by Anees Bazmee, K Chandra, K K Singh, Raj Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. The film is produced by
