An unemployed young man lives a hand to mouth existence in a shabby place called Anand Bhavan. He dreams of becoming rich and successful some day. One day by co-incidence he finds a drunk millionaire passed out in a gutter. He also finds a key to his lavish apartment in a hotel called Pushpak. The young man then keeps the millionaire in Anand Bhavan while he himself goes to Pushpak and enjoys the lavish lifestyle. Meanwhile the millionaire’s wife is having an affair with a lover who wants to get her husband killed but without her knowledge.
All the while the hit-man thinks the young unemployed man is his target and keeps trying to kill him but the latter escapes. Soon the wife realizes her lovers plan and is horrified and breaks up with him. The young man too realizes that he is doing the wrong thing and sends a letter to the millionaire telling him the truth. He eventually stops drinking and reunites with his wife. The film is directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and produced by Shringar Nagaraj. The Music is composed by Vaidyanathan and the story is written by Singeetam Srinivas Rao. The star cast includes Kamal Haasan, P L Narayana, K S Ramesh, Pratap Pote, Amala, Tinu Anand and Farida Jalal.
