Durga lives with her beautiful and young daughter Rano. She had been disowned and abandoned by her truck-driver husband years ago and had brought up Rano as a single mother with a lot of hardships and struggles. One day Rano confides in her mother that she is in love with a man called Preetam. Durga is shocked to learn that he too is a truck driver and is initially against the union. However after meeting Preetam, she changes her mind and arranges for the two lovers to get married. On the wedding day however, Preetam doesn’t show up. Durga then forces Rano to marry another man but she refuses saying that she is carrying Preetam’s child. This brings great shock to Durga and she passes away instantly.
Rano runs away in shame and finally gives birth to a baby boy in Dr. Fernandez’s hospital. Not being able to care for the child she abondons him there and leaves to find employment there. Many years later she meets Dr. Prabhat who falls in love with her but she doesn’t have the heart to tell him about her dark past. The film is directed by Rawan Kumar and produced by Lakhan Sinha. The music is composed by Jagjit Singh. The star cast includes Sanjeev Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Dina Pathak, Smita Patil, Ranjeet, Om Prakash, Makrand and Sudha Chopra.
