It is a feature film directed by Tapi Chanakya, produced by B. Nagi Reddy, starring Dilip Kumar in a dual role, Mumtaz and Waheeda Rehman, released on 7th April 1967.

Ram (Dilip Kumar) lives with his sister Sulakshna(Nirupa Roy) , his brother in law Gajendra(Pran) and his niece Kuku on his family estate.  Gajendra looks after the simpleton Ram’s properties and factories with an iron hand.  Gajendra treats Ram badly, whips him and abuses him. Ram is a shy and a coward who cannot retaliate.  He gets him married to a rich girl Anjana (Waheeda Rehman) so there is dowry coming in the house. She does not like Ram.

Agenda tries to kill him many a times for his property, but is unsuccessful. Fed up with the ill-treatment at the hands of Agenda, Ram decides to run away.  Meanwhile Ram’s twin brother Shyam lives in a village and is adopted by Ganga who raises him to become a strong, brave, street smart and mischievous unlike his twin.  Shyam is in love-hate relationship with Shanta(Mumtaz)

Shyam decides to go in place of Ram and refuses to sign the property papers .  He also whips him and retaliates on Gajendra’s ill-treatment. Everybody is shocked at seeing Shyam whom they believe was once upon a time the timid Ram.   However, one day Gajendra understands that Shyam has taken the place of Ram. He gets Shyam arrested for killing Ram and Shanta (whom he has kept in his captive).

Shyam somehow manages to escape from police custody and battles with Gajendra and his henchmen who have wrong motives for the vast property that belonged to Ram and Shyam.  Ram and Shyam are long lost brothers in the village mela.   A happy end to the story with the twin brothers who unite.
