Sona, played by Shruti Hassan is a traditional and simple girl from Punjab who has lost her mother at an early age and is brought up by her brotherRaghuveer, played by Sonu Sood. Their father marries another woman and throws them out of the house. Their mother’s tomb is built on a land that is owned by the zamindar’s and they ask them to pay the loan their mother took. Raghuveer works hard day and night to pay off the loan so they don’t tear down her tomb.
One day Sona is invited to her friends wedding. Her cousin Ram, played by Girish Kumar also comes to the wedding with his mother. Ram comes from a wealthy family and is brought up in Australia. Sona and Ram become friends and slowly start to fall in love but his mother doesn’t take it well as she isn’t as rich as them. She humiliates Sona and Raghuveer and thows them out of the house accusing Sona of trapping her son. On hearing this, Ram gets upset and pleads with Sona and Raghuveer to forgive them and accept him.
Raghuveer challenges Ram that he has to work hard in the village taking care of cows and grow more crops than him, only then can he marry Sona. He accepts the challenge and in the end love wins over all else. The movies is directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Kumar Taurani. The music is composed by Sachin-Jigar.
