Set in Rajasthan, Reshma, played by Waheeda Rehman and Shera, played by Sunil Dutt are in love with each other, despite the age old fued between their families. They continue seeing each other without the knowledge of their respective clans. Shera’s family, however finds out about the affair, and decide to take matters in their own hands.
Shera’s sharpshooter brother, Chotu, played by Amitabh Bachchan is mute and is given the task of killing Reshma’s recently married brother Gopal and her father. Learning of the misery it has brought upon Gopal’s widow, Shera kills his own father and now is on the lookout for Chotu.
Chotu takes refuge in Reshma’s house. On learning of his hiding location, Shera waits patiently in ambush to attack Chotu. In a shocking twist, Reshma and Chotu emerge from the house as a married couple. A devastated Shera now cannot kill Chotu as he is now Reshma’s husband.
The movie is directed and produced by Sunil Dutt. The music is composed by Jaidev.
