Road to Sangam is a 2010 Hindi political drama written & directed by Amit Rai with Stalwarts like Paresh Rawal, Om Puri in the lead and also a supporting cast featuring Pawan Malhotra, Javed Shaikh and Swathi Chitnis. The political movie spoke about a simpleton car mechanic entrusted with the job of repairing a ford car which holds much significance to history and the ensuing trappings that gets laid before him involving highly sensitive political issue where his morality comes under question.
Road to Sangam begins off with the normal life of a god fearing common man car mechanic which takes a serious turnover with him being entrusted with the task of repairing a historically relevant priced vintage car which reportedly carries the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi before immersing the same in the holy Triveni Sangam. He is in for the ride of his life when a local bombing c leads to police arresting Muslim youth. The arrest prompts much political and ideological rifts everywhere and he is left at odds with his surroundings turning to hell and has to make a decision quickly to choose his path with Gandhism coming to the forefront.
The movie was a critical phenomenon and many hailed it the best Gandhi movie ever.
