Shyamsunder is an honest and naïve man living a simple life in a village with his wife Pooja. He is an aspiring singer and decides to go to the big city to try his luck at becoming famous. Once there, he meets Muthuswami, a well-known tabla player and befriends him. His singing talent leads him to meet the owner of TIPS cassette industries Mr. Khurana. He is impressed with his natural gift and promotes him to a high position. Shyamsunder is happy that he can finally pay his debts in the village and goes back to visit his family. That is when he gets the tragic news of his wife Pooja dying in the flood.
A devastated Shyamsunder then goes back to the city and marries Khurana’s daughter Divya. When Khurana has a heart attack, Shyamsunder takes him to the hospital and finds his wife Pooja there, still alive. He panics and conceals both his marriages to both wives and leads a double life. The movie is directed by David Dhawan and produced by M A Siddqui. The music is composed by Nadeem Shravan and the lyrics are written by Sameer and Sarif Khan. The cinematography is by Rajan Kinagi. The star cast includes Govinda, Karishma Kapoor,Tabu, Satish Kaushik,Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Satish Shah,Arjun, Mukesh Rishi, Arun Bakshi, Dinesh Hingoo, Rakesh Bedi, Bharat Kapoor, Jack Gaud, Raju Shreshtha, Anjana Mumtaz and Himani Shivpuri.
