Yashoda is forced to get married to a mentally challenged man and soon gives birth to a child. Thinsg go horribly wrong when something triggers the anger in her husband and he ends up killing the baby and himself. Yashoda’s brother Bhanu is mighty furious and devastated that this had to happen to his sister and seeks revenge from her in-laws. So every year he has a bullock race with the help of Mahipal, played by Arvind Swami. They always win the race and this makes Yashoda’s in-laws loose the race. This way he gets vengeance for the pain caused to his sister. One day a man called Baldev and his sister Jalima, played by Juhi Chawla, take a ride in his bullock. Bhanu is helplessly attracted by Jalima while Mahipal wants to get rid of them as soon as possible.
Things take a different turn when Jalima ends up falling in love with Mahipal. The movie is written and directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Amitabh Bachchan. The music is composed by Nadeem Shravan and the lyrics are written by Sameer. The star cast includes Anupam Kher, Satish Shah, Govind Namdev, Mink Singh, Tinu Anand, Paintal, Farida Jalal, Aruna Irani and Sukumari.
