Two sister Mansi and Bansi come to the city of Mumbai, after the parents pass away. The only things they have from their parents is the immense love for music and a marvelous voice to sing. Mansi meets a music director and begins her singing career while keeping her sister’s talent under wraps. Mansi doesn’t want to be overshadowed by her sister thus gets her married to an unsuitable man. She tells Bansi that while she bears children to carry the family name forward, she will carry the music legacy forward. Soon the music director discovers Bansi’s talent and chooses her as his protégé. This angers Mansi. The sisters now start a bitter rivalry. While Bansi struggles to keep herself afloat despite challenging circumstances, Mansi holds her own and wants her sister’s downfall.
The movie is directed by Sai Paranjpe and produced by Amit Khanna. The music is composed by Zahir Hussain and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar. The star cast includes Zakir Hussain, Raghuveer Yadav, Shabana Azmi, Aruna Irani, Dev Dharkar,Parikshitra Sahani,Rajkamal,Bhupen Amar Talwar, Aditya Despande, Brijbhushan Sahani and Ayesha Yashwant.
