Sant Tukaram is one of the greatest devotional Indian film that was very successful and received an international recognition.  Based on the 17th Century, the film is about a farmer and grocer who loses his interest in life when his wife and his child die in famine.  Due to sorrow he starts neglecting his worldly duties to his second wife Jijai and their two children.   
The film released in 1936 is based on the prominent 17th century Marathi Varkari Saint and a spiritual poet during the Bhakti movement.   The film goes forward with verses from Tukaram’s teachings through his songs and poetry which teaches you to seek God for devotion.  The crucial element of this film is devotion, purity and humbleness. 
Directed by Vishnupant Govind Damle and Sheikh Fattelal , the film depicts various miracles of Tukaram . Written by Shivram Washikar based on the true stories of Sant Tukaram.  Starring  Vishnupant Pagnis, Gauri and B. Nandrekar. Music is by Keshavrao Bhole and was produced for Prabhat Film Company in December 1936
