Anuradha Sehgal, played by Raveena Tandon is a happy go lucky, head strong and independent girl. She moves to Mumbai in search of a lucrative employment and soon starts working. One day she meets a high profile politician’s son named Vivek Chauhan and both fall in love. They then get married in a huge ceremony where many politicians and important people attend. Soon Anuradha begins to feel stifled in the political family, where women are not given much importance but are expected to stay at home. One day things turn for the worse when Vivek is arrested for a murder. She goes to meet him in jail and is shocked at what a different man he is and how she never really saw his true character. He insults her and she leaves.
Vivek was to be the next Chief Minister and with him in jail that is no longer an option, thus his father asks Anuradha to stand for elections in Vivek’s place. She initially refuses, pointing to the families hypocrisy at changing stands from keeping women indoors to asking them to go beg for votes, but later accepts. Her mentor is Yashwant Varde and he teaches her the ropes of politics. Soon she becomes popular with the masses and also falls in love with Yashwant. Later she realizes that Yashwant was only using her as a pawn in politics. Anuradha is now at the heart of the dirty political game where, underworld, corrupt cops and politicians are hand in glove.
