Ashish, played by Akshaye Khanna is unemployed and directionless in life. He meets Rani, played by Ayesha Takia who is the daughter of a business tycoon and falls in love. Both fall for each other and Rani insists that Ashish meet her parents. On knowing his background, her parents reject him right away, but Ashish promises to get a job and home. He then gets hired at an ad agency and gets a good salary and starts living a comfortable life. At their engagement, Ashish comes to know that he has cancer and starts to panic. He then tries to get rid of Rani. He tries several ways like becoming an alcoholic and claiming to have an affair with a model, but to no avail.
The deal breaker is when Rani sees the model Sania, played by Mallika Sherawat’s pictures in his room. He later learns that Sania has really fallen for him and introduces Ashish to her brother Anna. They all like Ashish and decide to get the two married but Ashish tells Sania that he has cancer. Anna gets another check-up done and turns out Ashish had misunderstood and he doesn’t have cancer. Thus he goes back to Rani and confesses his love and asks for forgiveness.
The movie is directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Subhash Ghai. The music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
