Alia Arora, played by Alia Bhatt, is an adopted daughter of Bipin, played by Pankaj Kapoor and his wife, played by Niki Walia. Niki and Bipin’s mother Kamla are very money minded and disregard anyone’s feelings and emotions. Alia is disliked by the two women but loved by Bipin and his elder daughter Isha, played by Sanah Kapoor. Alia also suffers from extreme insomnia, which worries Bipin, and he tries various tricks and ideas to make her fall asleep but is of not much use.
She happens to meet JJ, played by Shahid Kapoor, who is a wedding organizer for Isha’s wedding. JJ incidentally also suffers from insomnia because of his mother’s death. Alia and JJ bond and fall in love. They even find peace together and fall asleep. This fact makes Bipin elated. Meanwhile Isha’s wedding is a result of a business merger with the Fudwani’s. Her to be groom Robin, who is a fitness freak, despises Isha’s fat body and keeps reminding her of it. Eventually she gets fed up and breaks the marriage.
Turns out the Arora’s and the Fudwani’s both were going bankrupt which is why they needed the merger, but things go haywire and they call off the wedding in the end. The movie is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap
