The story of the movie is based on the life and struggles of the great Maratha warrior Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It depicts how he achieved a great deal with his sheer courage and intelligence. He led his kingdom to victory and sacrified his own happiness for it. The film is directed by Ram Gabale and the film is produced by Maharashtra Govt. The music is composed by Sudhir Phadke. The star cast includes Parikshit Sahni, Smita Patil, Jayshree Gadkar, Shreeram Lagu, Amrish Puri, Ramesh Deo, Vijay Mehta, Asrani and Dev Kumar.
