The movie is based on the real crime that happened in 1991 at the Lokhandwala Complex.
Meeta Matu (Día Mirza) is a media reporter. The story is about a gangster Maya Dolas (Vivek Oberoi) . Former Chief Justice turned Private Prosecutor Dhingra(Amitabh Bachchan)is interviewing three officers of the Mumbai Encounter Squad, ACP Shamsher Khan(Sanjay Dutt), Inspector Kaviraj Patil(Sunil Shetty) & police constable Javed Shaikh (Arbaaz Khan)
Dhingra questions ACP Shamsher Khan about the reason for following The Blue Star Operation. There is a long chase , bullets, firing and in the end all the gangsters are killed. Charges are brought against ACP, but he is acquitted.
