India’s First Feature Film was released on 18th may 1912 and was directed by Ram Chandra Gopal Torne who was also known as Dadasaheb Torne. 
Movie was based on a Marathi play and the film was staged in Grant Road Mumbai. The Film was shot by Johnson and it had no dialogues at all.
Since the shoot happened on a fixed platform, the director was not happy with the recorded version and he decided to re shoot the play in parts, So here started the journey of Film Editing.
Being directed by Ram Chandra Gopal Torne and shot by British based Johnson this film got involved in controversies as if it was India’s First film or not.
