Amar is a respected college professor from a reputed college. He lives with his wife and son Kunal. One day a war breaks out between two notorious Mumbai ganglord;Veljibhai and Chappan Tikli. The innocent bystanders face the brunt of the war and are killed. One of the victims is Kunal and he dies on the spot. This brings a wave of tragedy in Amar’s happy family. His wife not able to come to terms with his son’s death, walks out on Amar. He then puts his entire focus on his teaching and students. A few years later Amar meets a student named Pooja who is struggling with stammering and tries to help her get over her stammering.
Amar later learns that Pooja is gangster Veljibhai’s only daughter. He then meets with him and makes him understand how the gang wars has caused so much destruction. He meets with ChappanTikli too and the two dons decide to bury the hatchet. However this wasn’t meant to be as they had ulterior motives in their minds. While on a college trip, Amar and his student’s life are put in danger by the two dons.
The film is directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. The music is composed by Anu Malik and the lyrics are written by QateelShifai. The star cast includes Naseerudin Shah, Atul Agnihotri, Pooja Bhatt, Gulshan Grover, Mahesh Anand, Paresh Rawal, Sushmeeta Mukherji and Soni Razdan.
