When Sandeep Singh is humiliated and punished by his sports coach, he begins to dislike the game of hockey and quits the game. Then one day during practice he meets Harpreet Kaur who also plays hockey and they both fall in love. Sandeep re-joins the game hoping to be close to Harpreet. In the bargain he excels in his game. The coach who is Harpreet’s uncle, comes to know of the affair and beats up Sandeep. Later his brother who fails to make it to the India camp but sees that Sandeep is good at drag flick. He is then known to be ‘Flicker Singh’, a term coined by the media. He also gets a stable job. Reluctantly Harpreet’s uncle accepts Sandeep as a potential husband for his niece.
One fateful day while leaving for the Hockey World Cup, Sandeep is accidentally shot in the lower back and gets paralyzed waist down. He is devastated to know that he cannot play hockey again and is confined to a wheelchair. In Netherlands, due to intensive therapy, Sandeep recovers from his injury and begins to play Hockey again. In the Commonwealth Championship in London, Harpreet too comes to watch him play and he scores the winning goal. He is then presented with the Arjuna Award in 2010 by the President of India.
