Sulbha Mahajan is a woman dreaming of working for the welfare of exploited and abused women on society. She decides this is her calling and starts working towards achieving her goal. Soon she is offered a job as a superintendent at the women’s reformatory home. She shares the news with her mother-in-law and husband but they are against her taking up this unconventional route. Only her sister-in-law supports her
decision and helps her by looking after her daughter while Sulbha goes out of town to take up the job. Soon Sulbha settles into the job and brings about a change in the discipline of the place. Meanwhile Sulbha comes to know that a local MLA has been using the inmates of the home for his sexual pleasures. Two inmates run off but are nabbed and brought back. In despair the two women kill themselves. Sulbha’s job responsibilities are then questioned. She is humiliated and leaves the job. On reaching home, she comes to know that her husband has been
having an affair with another woman. Sulbha decides to back to achieve her dreams. The film is directed by Jabbar Patel and produced by D V Rao and Jabbar Patel. The star cast includes Girish Karnad, Smita Patil, Shrikant Moghe and Asha Lata.
