Amarchandra, his mother, father, Baba Thakur, and a sister live in poverty in British India. His father is a guard in the British Army, which George has commandeered locally. When Governor Jackson and his daughter, Diana, come to visit the area, Amarchandra organises a protest and also takes people to a gathering where Mohandas Gandhi speaks, much to his father's anger. Despite this, Amarchandra keeps protesting and even humiliates Jackson. Then Jackson sends more men and munitions to Delhi by rail to deal with Amarchandra, who learns of the situation and decides to sabotage and blow up the train.
