A village has been suffering atrocities and cruelty at the hands of a local landlord who does everything for his selfishness and greed. He oppresses the poor farmers and villagers to get his way with them for his ulterior motives. Kumar is a young man who watches this injustice helplessly. He has even seen the zamindar’s men beat up his father and could do nothing about it. He thus decides to become a teacher to let good education prevail in the village. The school’s headmaster’s daughter Prerna has been finishing her high studies in Calcutta and returns after doing so. She and Kumar had been childhood friends. They both fall in love all over again.
Prerna supports Kumar in his efforts to bring about a revolution in the village with the youth. They eventually get married. Kumar then stands for the elections and wins it hands down. She then sees a great change in her husband. He is turning out to be the persona he himself was fighting and hating the mos. Things start to change between them and there is a struggle to keep the marriage together. The film is directed by Chandrakant Joshi and produced by V Deshingar. The music is composed by Sudhir Moghe. The star cast includes Girish Karnad, Nana Patekar, Smita Patil, Jagirdar, Nilu Phule and Ashalata.
