Born as Narendranath Datta, Swami Vivekanand’s life is documented in this movie. He was born in a middle class family and growing up he sees his father donating food, clothes, etc to the poor. When he asks his father to give him something too, his father tells him to look in the mirror and find so many things he has given him. Different events in his life are shown like his mother teaching him meditation. He was a brilliant student and enjoyed many subjects. Datta then meets Ramakrishna at a friends place and sings a devotional song, which impresses Ramakrishna. He then becomes his guru after some initial rejection. He teaches him to find God and the true significance of religion.
After Ramakrishna’s death, Datta becomes a sanyasi and then meets Raja Mangal Singh. He then goes to Chicago where he is invited to attend the Parliament of the World’s Religions and is successful. He then gives an impeccable speech where he prays for world peace. The movie is directed by G.V Iyer and produced by Dr Subbirami Reddy. The star cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Tanuja, Raakhe, Hema Malini, Sarvadaman Banerjee, Anupam Kher, Devshree Rai and Jayaprada. The music is composed by Salil Choudhary and B V Karant. The cinematography is by Madhu Ambat.
