Maanav, played by Akshay Khanna, comes to Chambal with his family for a long vacation. Maanav then meets Mansi, played by Aishwarya Rai, one day while taking walk and falls in love with her beauty and simplicity. Mansi is an aspiring singer and trains with her father. Maanav tells his father about his love for Mansi and wanting to marry her. His father is strictly against it as she comes from a poor background. On knowing this Mansi is heart broken. His father then insults her family and this spoils the relations between Mansi and Maanav. Mansi then goes to Mumbai and meets Vikrant, played by Anil Kapoor, who is impressed with Mansi’s talent and agrees to make her a star. He soon falls in love with her but she resists as she still thinks of Manav. Soon Vikrant proposes to her and she has no choice but to accept. Manav however comes to Mumbai to win Mansi’s heart and eventually succeeds in doing so.
The movie is written, directed and produced by Subhash Ghai. The star cast includes Alok Nath, Amrish Puri, Mita Vashisht, Puneet Vashis, Rajesh Khera, Shahid Kapoor, Jividha, Sharma and Bobby Darling.
