Premi is an honest man who moves from UP to Mumbai for a better life. He makes ends meet selling his poetry to a wealthy man named Benni. One day he meets a woman named Laila-Jaan and is instantly attracted to her. He later comes to know that she works at a brothel. However one night he finds her singing at a club. He then tries to get close to her. One day the Thakur invites Laila to sing for his wife and him. She sees how much the Thakur’s wife hates her and her profession. Laila then decides to give up being a courtesan. She tehn goes missing and mysteriously even Premi is missing.
The film is directed by Rehman Naushad and produced by Prem Lalwani. The music is composed by Naushad. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Abrar Alvi.Teh cinematography is by Narayan Rao. The star cast includes Govinda, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Navin Nischol, Kader Khan,Shakti Kapoor,Johny Lever, Bharat Bhushan, Shehzad Khan, Beena Banerjee, Shubha Khote and Renuka Israni.
