The Great Gambler is a 1979 action thriller film starring Amitabh Bachan in dual role ( as Jai and Inspector Vijay). Starring opposite Zeenat Aman, Neetu Singh in the lead role with Madan Puri, Jagdish Raj and Prem Chopra in supporting star cast.
Jai (Amitabh Bacchan) is the great gambler who has never lost any game. His skills in the game of cards is noticed by the underworld kingpin Ratan Das (Madan Puri). His plan is to hire Jai to win large amounts in the game of cards from the rich and affluent and then influence them into being a part of his illegal businesses. Jai is not aware of the reality and unknowingly gets trapped when he agrees to play against Nath (Jadish Raj) who works with the Government and heavily loses out amounts of money to Jai. He is now blackmailed to reveal the blueprints of the top secret of the laser weapon owned by the Military. When the police get to know of this, they assign inspector Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan look alike) to handle the case.
The story moves further with Jai and Vijay’s path both get entangled when they both land up in Rome together. Both with mistake of identity end up with the wrong girls, Mala (Neetu Singh) and Shabnam (Zeenat Aman). While they are in midst of fulfilling the mission they are sent to the country they also come to know that they are actually long lost twin brothers and together they team up to stop all mal practices by the underworld Don.
