Shyam Kumar(Rajesh Khanna) is a police inspector who has to solve many murder cases that have taken place in The Train. Neeta(Nanda) his girlfriend acts mysteriously when she joins work. Lily(Helen) tries to woo him and loses his heart to him. This movie is about how Shyam solves the cases one by one. It is a remake of Malayalam movie Cochin Express in 1967, in Kannada (1968) Bangalore Mail, in Telugu Circar Express and in Tamil Neelagiri Express.
