Raja lives a middle class lifestyle with his widowed mother. However his mother falls gravely ill and he then comes to know that his father is still alive and a very rich man. He learns all about him and also that he has re-married and has a step-brother named Shankar. Raja then filled with rage tricks Shankar and tries to take his signature on certain property papers. Shankar’s mother however catches Raja in the middle of his shrewd trick and almost hands him over to the cops when she learns that he is non other than Shankar’s step brother. She decides to let him go. When their father too learns this he feels remorse and forgives Raja. Meanwhile Raja also steals Shankar’s girlfriend Chanda who falls for the former but Shankar forgives him and later the family unites.
The film is directed by Prabhat Khanna and produced by Ashok Khanna. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and the story is written by Subhash Ghai. The star cast includes Rajnikanth, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Kulbhushan Kharbandam, Paresh Rawal, Bharathi, Lalita Pawar and Seema Deo.
