Aditya Verma, played by Shahid Kapoor lives in a big mansion with a big family, which includes his brother, sister-in-law, sister and grandmother. His brother has a drinking problem and thus Aditya is the only working member in the family. He falls in love with his brother’s children’s tuition teacher Pia, played by Amrita Rao. They soon decide to get married and life is great for Aditya. However, one day when he is on his way for an important meeting, he has a horrific accident and dies on the spot. He then meet the god of death Yamraj and pleads with him to allow him to return to Earth as a ghost, since his evil uncle wants to sell his mansion.
Yamraj agrees to Aditya’s condition and allows him to go as a ghost. There Aditya takes the help of Fakira bhai, played by Arshad Warsi who gives Aditya the power to touch humans and thus he is able to succeed in his mission and saves his family’s home. The Yamraj too gets emotional and lets Aditya stay back and brings him back to life to live happily with his family and Pia.
The movie is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Sangeetha Ahir. The music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Ajay-Atul.
