Veerappan, played by Sandeep Bharadwaj, assists his relative who smuggles Sandalwood and is a poacher. His father and few other relatives are also involved in poaching and smuggling business. Veerappan learns the ropes and tricks from his family and dominates the Sathyamangalam forest located in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He has formed his small army of men that defy the government and security paramilitary forces.
Veerappan at the time is wanted in the murder of approximately 184 people, half of whom were cops and forest officials. He is also wanted for smuggling Ivory and 10,000 tons of sandalwood and poaching over 200 elephants. The Special Task Force (STF) killed his chief Gandhi and he avenges his death by misleading them and on opportunity brutally murders them.
After multiple failed attempts at nabbing Veerappan the STF team headed by ex-spy and master-strategist Kumar they are finally successful on October 18th 2004. Kumar disguises him himself as an arms dealer and escorts him out of the forest into an ambulance. The team then asks Veerappan’s gang to surrender but instead they open fire in vengeance the STF officers throw grenades and shoot the gang which ultimately kills them all.
Veerappan is directed by Ram Gopal Varma and produced by Raina Sachin Joshi. The music is composed by Jeet Ganguli and Shaarib-Toshi.
