Valayapathy, the paternal grandfather of young Ragupathy (Rajinikanth), raises him. He makes the decision to move to the city in pursuit of a new career and way of life. While in the city, he runs across Senthil, who helps him get a job interview at Rajkumar's (Sarath Babu) five-star hotel. Ragupathy meets Kowsalya (Amala) while he is in the hotel and they fall in love.
