Amar, played by John Abraham works in London and sends a part of his salary to his old and loving parents Vidyadhar, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Sumitra, played by Sharmila Tagore. His girlfriend Jenny, played by Anusha Dandekar and him decide to get married and announce it to them on returning to India. They are happy for him and celebrate. One day when Amar is out, his parents and Jenny decide to throw him a surprise birthday party. While Amar is at a local pub he witnesses a brawl and while trying to save the victim he gets severely injured. At the hospital Amar succumbs to his injuries.
Vidhyadhar and Sumitra along with Jenny are devastated to her the news. Their world has come crashing down in an instant. The killer at the pub is the son of a minister and thus goes scott free. In fact they implicate false charges against Amar of drug peddling and also accuse Jenny of being his accomplice. They arrest a pregnant Jenny and the police threaten to rape her. Vidhyadhar has had enough and decides to fight the case himself and bring the perpetrators to justice.
An old friend Ali Asgar, played by Sanjay Dutt helps Vidyadhar and helps him get a gun. He confront the killer Harshwardhan and he confesses to his crime arrogantly. Vidyadhar shoots him after that and walks away. He shows the recording to the police and Amar and Vidyadhar are free of all charges. Amar can now rest in peace.
The movie is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Amitabh Bachchan. The music is composed by Anand Raj Anand, Roop Kumar Rathod, Bhavdeep Jaipurwale, Ashit Desai, Ajay-Atul and Violin Brothers. The cinematography is by Vijay Arora.
