Sid Mehra, played by Ranbir Kapoor is a spoilt rich kid who is happy go lucky and has no cares about the world and no responsibilities. Being the only child, his parents have pampered him, especially his mother. One the day of his final results in college, he learns that he has failed but all his other friends have passed out. He gets furious and accuses his friends of wasting his time partying and hanging out while they have managed to study and pass. This causes a rift between the friends.
Sid goes home upset and speaks rudely to his mother and father. His father asks him to apologize to his mother and start taking care of his business but Sid refuses. His dad gives him the ultimatum of living by his rules or leaving the house. Side chooses the latter and walks out. He goes to Aisha’s(Konkana Sen Sharma) house who he met at a party. She stays in a rented apartment and accommodates Sid. She leaves him at home and goes to work. On returning Aisha gets angry to see her house in a mess and scolds Sid. He gets upset and decides to change his ways. He starts to learn how to fry eggs, wash dishes, fold clothes, etc.
One day Aisha sees how passionate Sid is about photography and gets him an internship in her agency for a magazine. After a few months he gets the job and is happy. He then tells his parents who are very proud of him and ask him to move back home. Aisha and Sid then realize that they have fallen in love with each other. The movie is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar and Hiroo Yash Johar. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Amit Trivedi.
