Waqt is a 1965 drama film directed by Yash Chopra and produced by B. R. Chopra.  Starring Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Sadhana, Balraj Sahni, Madan Puri, Sharmila Tagore, Achala Sachdev and Rehman.

The plot is of a natural disaster that separates the family. Several years later destiny brings them back together in a strange manner.

 Lala Kedarnath essayed by Balraj Sahni has three sons whose birthdays are on the same day.  During one of the joint birthday celebrations .   Due to an earthquake is devastating and Lala Kedarnath finds himself homeless with his entire town crumbled into ruins.  The three sons are separated . Raju (Rajkumar) the eldest of the three lands in an orphanage, while a rich couple find the middle son Ravi(Sunil Dutt) and raise him as their son while the youngest Vijay (Shashi Kapoor) is with his mother Laxmi(Achla Sachdev) who live in poverty. 

Lala Kedarnath learns that his eldest son is in the orphanage but by the time he has reached there, his son Raju has left the orphanage as he was being ill-treated by the Orphanage manager Jeevan who beat up the children.   The film moves forward showing Raju running on the streets and he grows up on the streets.  The family unite in different circumstances much later in life to a happy ending of the film.
