Ishwar Chandra, played by Amitabh Bachchan, is happily married to Sumitra, played by Shefali Shah and has one son Aditya, played by Akshay Kumar. Ishwar loves his family and would do anything to keep them happy. The only thing that bothers him is the carefree and lazy attitude of his son, who has been pampered being the only child and completely dependent on his parents, financially. He even goes to fail his matriculation exam inspite of having all the facilities to study.

 

One incident changes the house dynamix and their lives forever. Aditya falls in love and marries Ishwar’s enemies daughter Pooja, played by Priyanka Chopra against his father’s wishes. Ishwar decides that he has had enough of Aditya’s dependency on him and teaches him a lesson to fend for himself. He throws him out of the house and makes him earn his own living. Things get out of hand when Pooja gets pregnant. Ishwar makes Aditya live in his servant quarters and pay a rent and reminds him of how he struggled at his age to make a name fro himself.

 

The movie is directed and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The music is composed by Anu Malik and Aatish Kapadia. The cinematography is by Ashok Mehta Santosh Thundiyil. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Aatish Kapadia.
