Maya, played by Kajol lives with her three children Aleya, Ankush and Anjali. She is recently divorced from her husband Aman, played by Arjun Rampal, due to incompatibility and differences. Aman is dating a young fashion designer named Shreya, played by Kareena Kapoor and lives with her. Even though Maya and Aman are divorced they still make sure the kids don’t feel any different and have birthday parties and outings together occasionally. On one such birthday party, Aman brings Shreya along and introduces her to the family but things go awfully wrong, as the kids don’t accept her well.
Aman asks Shreya to spend time with the kids to know them better but they play pranks on her and annoy her. She gets furious and bad mouths them as a result Aman and her have a big argument. Later Maya finds out that she has cervical acncer and in the last stages. She tells the children and Aman about it who moves back with her to support her. Meanwhile she asks Shreya to be there for the children and Aman when she is gone. This brings the family together.
