The story of the movie begins when Armaan, played by Boman Irani tells his boss, why he took a leave for three months instead of one. At Armaan’s village in Hyderabad, there is a severe drought condition and people are facing financial difficulties. Thus, Armaan goes to government officials and asks them for a well, completing all necessary formalities. Meanwhile, his daughter Muskaan, played by Minissha Lamba falls in love with a guy called Arif, but he doesn’t approve of their relation.
He later does not receive the well as he had hoped and is heartbroken. He along with Muskaan go to the local police station and register a complaint about their stolen well. The police officer finds the complaint extremely absurd and ignores their statements. Muskaan gathers few village people and protest against the officer’s bad behavior. The minister hears of the protests and not only punishes the officer, but also asks the government to build wells for the struggling villagers. Thus the drought problem is solved and Muskaan gets married to Arif.
The movie is directed by Shyam Benegal and produced by Raj Pius and Mahesh Ramanathan. The music is composed by Shantanu Moitra. The cinematography is by Rajan Kothari.
