Maya is a happy-go-lucky bubbly girl who meets Prem for the first time when he comes to her house to stay. His naïve and innocent attitude impresses and she falls in love with him. Prem at first decides to concentrate only on becoming a musician and doesn’t pay heed to Maya’s advances but soon he too falls in love with her. The couple confess love for each other and plan to elope. However before they could execute
their plan, Maya’s parents catch them red handed and kicks Prem and his assistant out of the house. Maya is then forced to marry Dr. Anand. A distraught and depressed Maya attempts suicide but is saved by Anand. Maya then confesses her story to Anand who tells her that he merely married her for the sake of his ill mother. After her death he will re-unite her with Prem. Maya however starts getting fond of Anand and his daughter from a previous marriage. When Anand finally locates Prem, Maya refuses to leave Anand and tells him that it would be wrong to leave her husband. The film is directed by Bapu and produced by Surinder Kapoor. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The star cast includes Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Padmini Kolhapure and Jagdeep.
