Kishan, played by Amitabh Bachchan is an orphan who is hardworking and honest. His close friend is Bishan, played by Amjad Khan who comes from an affluent family. Bishan’s uncle is annoyed of their friendship due to the status difference and asks his sister to send Bishan abroad for further studies. He thinks this will break their friendship, but it doesn’t. Years later, when Bishan returns as a successful businessman, he first goes to meet Kishan. He notices that Kishan has a great singing voice and decides to help him build up on his talent.

 

Bishan takes Kishan to the city to groom him with the help of Komal, played by Neetu Singh. Meanwhile Bishan realizes that his uncle and his son are misusing his family wealth. He thus mortgages his belongings to invest it on Kishan’s sining career. This irks his wife as she doubts Kishan will ever pay them back once he is famous. But Kishan’s first concert is a huge success and the proceeds are all given to Bishan by him. He then unites with his widowed sister and loving nephew.

 

Meanwhile Bishan is tricked by his uncle and his cousin and kidnapped along with several children on a shipping vessel and made to confess that all the illegal acts were done by him. He is tortured and beaten and thus loses his memory and mental stability. He is sent into an asylum. Kishan on hearing this fakes being mentally ill and gets admitted to the asylum as well and helps his friend completely recover. Together they fight Bishan’s uncle and cousin and send them to join for their deeds.

 

The movie is directed by Raakesh Kumar and produced by M.A Nadiadwala. The music is composed by Rajesh Roshan. The cinematography is done by Peter Pereira.
